How can Lean IT help service improvement?

There is no doubt that service improvement is a journey. Lean principles help IT to deliver more value to the business. While Lean feels 'cutting edge' in fact it has a history: Lean has continuously evolved from the days of Henry Ford's assembly line to Toyota's production systems to today with leading information technology companies.

I would like to introduce you to a new global standard for Lean in IT. The Lean IT Association (LITA) was founded recently to provide an industry standard set of Lean IT reference materials and resources for practitioner organizations to use. LITA will deliver a clear understanding of the value and positioning of Lean IT. It provides a certification scheme practitioner organizations can refer to when they adopt Lean IT principles in the IT Service development and operations department. Professionals also benefit to be Lean IT certified on various levels.
